Helping to protect your ethical rights in Family Court and Divorce…
Lawyers and Judges are bound by the New York State Rules of Professional Responsibility and the Judicial Code of Conduct…
The actions taken and decisions made in your case must remain within the confines of the rules…
With over a decade of experience in the areas of Family Law and Divorce, I am well equipped to assist you in deciding whether or not the NYS Rules of Professional Responsibility and the Judicial Code of Conduct are being followed in your case.
A lawyer who knows another lawyer has committed an ethical violation, “shall” report such knowledge…
While the obligation is clear, unfortunately some lawyers and Judges do not report ethical violations when they know they have occurred…
This is not fair to you, your family or your children…
I will sit down with you, learn about your case and review what you believe to be unethical behavior.
If after doing so, I come to know that an ethical violation has occurred, then it shall be reported.
Your Questions, Answered
If other attorneys won’t report unethical behavior, how can I trust that you will?
Simply put, it’s the right thing to do. Family Court and Divorce cases should operate just as quickly and efficiently as other areas of law. Attorneys and Judges have an obligation to move your case along with due diligence, while following the Rules of Professional Responsibility and Judicial Code of Conduct.
If I complain, could that make them mad and hurt my case?
This is by far the most common reason I see for clients not wanting to report unethical behavior. It is my opinion that this is also the reason why many attorneys may not report unethical behavior as well.
However, Judges are not allowed to take actions or make decisions based on any sort of bias or impartiality. Therefore, if they retaliate against you in your case, then they may be seen as having committed an ethical violation themselves.
Do you also handle malpractice suits?
No, my services are limited to ethical violations.
